Ensuring the safety of patients, staff and visitors is of the utmost importance at Runnymede. This is made possible by dedicating resources to the ongoing education of patients, families, staff, physicians and volunteers on emergency preparedness.

In the event of an emergency at Runnymede, an emergency code will be broadcast throughout the hospital to alert all patients, staff and volunteers that an emergency has occurred.

What Is An Emergency Code?

An emergency code is a notification of an event that requires immediate action. Emergency codes are distinguished by using standardized colours which are set by the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) to ensure uniformity across all hospitals in Ontario.
