| Most great achievements begin with a vision. Our vision inspired years of planning and persistence. The time has come to finally replace our current facility, which was originally constructed in 1908 as a school. Our new hospital will deliver an unprecedented standard of care for people in Ontario who are chronically ill. It will allow us to reach a higher plateau in healthcare and quality of life for those who call Runnymede home.
Thanks to the Government of Ontario and many committed funding partners, we are building the hospital of our dreams. A new home for twice as many patients who will have more space, greater privacy, and enhanced services and programs pioneered by Runnymede
for over 60 years.
The generation born between 1945 and 1964 faces a very unique responsibility. Baby Boomers are being referred to as the sandwich generation because they are often shouldering the responsibility of caring for aging parents and growing children at the same time.
We have only seen the beginning of this new phenomenon. As the population ages over the next few decades, there will be tremendous pressure on hospitals like Runnymede to play a central role in caring for mothers and fathers who are too ill to be cared for at home.
We all share in a responsibility to care for those who can no
longer care for themselves. Runnymede already offers the very
best treatment available to young and older adults who are
suffering from a chronic illness. By investing in our new
hospital and progressive vision, you will be part of a special
group that ensures the quality of life for individuals is never
compromised.
